Power-of-Attorney
Made Thru The Consulate:
- This service is exclusively offered to Brazilians and foreigners that
carry a valid RNE (National Registration of Foreigners).
PROCEDURES:
- Complete the Power-of-Attorney form online to its entirety, with all the
information of Granter(s) and Grantee(s), and description, in clear and
concise essay, of the powers being granted to the Grantee(s).
- Please be sure to save the form on your computer before and after
you complete it.
- The form must be sent to the Consulate via e-mail to
consular@brazilhouston.org
- The Consulate will contact you to schedule a date for the signing
of the Power-of-Attorney.
- For the signing of the Power-of-Attorney, the Granter(s) must appear in
person at the Consulate, in possession of CPF (the equivalent
to the Brazilian Social Security) and Brazilian photo identification card or
Brazilian passport.
COSTS:
- Power-of-Attorney designated to collection of state pensions, public
service income, retirement or military
retirement - $5.00
- Power-of-Attorney for all other purposes - $20.00
Private Power-of-Attorney:
- In the event that the Brazilian citizen or foreigner, bearing the RNE
card, is unable to appear in person at the Consulate, the petitioner may
draw a private Power-of-Attorney, signed in the presence of and by a notary
public in the Consulate's jurisdiction.
- The signature of the notary public must be authenticated and recognized
by the Secretary of State.
- The Power-of-Attorney and all necessary documentation must the be mailed
via postal to be legalized by the Consulate.
CUSTO:
- Private Power-of-Attorney for all purpose - $20.00
GENERAL NOTES:
- Payment must be made exclusively in form of United States Postal Service
- USPS Money Order, paid to the order of Consulate General of Brazil in
Houston.
- Remember to enclose a self-addressed and stamped envelope for the return
of all documents.
- Only USPS self-address and stamped envelops will be accepted for return
of legalized Power-of-Attorney.
- For urgent returns, USPS Express Mail is recommended.
ATTENTION:
- The Consulate will not return documents via FedEx, UPS, DHL or similar
services. Your request for Power-of-Attorney will be delayed until we
receive the appropriate USPS self-addressed and stamped return envelope.
- The Consulate is not held response for the loss of mailed documents.
