An emergency visa V may be promptly granted, with a duration of up to 30 days, under very exceptional circumstances. The Consulate General will consider such applications when it is evident that the applicant's immediate presence in Brazil is essential to remedy emergency and/or unforeseen situations. The nature of the situation must be clearly and concisely spelled out on the employer's letter; routine services obviously do not qualify for this type of visa. The Consulate General otherwise informs that such emergency visas, even under the most exceptional of circumstances, cannot be granted more than once in three months. |

Interns and volunteers are prohibited from holding any paid job in Brazil. |

However, a visa granted under the waiver procedure identified above will have a validity of not more than 30 days and will not be eligible for an extension. Internships and medical residence visas are not eligible for extension either. |
