Temporary Visa: VITEM-IV

Eligibility:

Yellow Ball pursue graduate or post-graduate academic studies in Brazil

Terms and Conditions:

  • First arrival in Brazil must take place within 90 days from the date the visa was issued.
  • Visa holders are prohibited from holding any paid job in Brazil.
  • Whenever the planned stay exceeds 90 days, visitors must register with the Federal Police in Brazil within 30 days from first arrival in the country, by submitting the passport along with an original visa application form that will be returned to applicant by the Consulate, once the visa is issued.
  • For extended stays, of at least 6 months, the same type of visa may be issued to immediate family members. However, family members are prohibited from engaging in any paid activity in Brazil.
  • This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. If necessary, a visa extension may be submitted to the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the authorized stay (special requirements apply).
  • For nationals from Bhutan, Central African Republic, and Taiwan visa will be issued on a "laissez-passer".
  • Brazilian nationals must enter and leave Brazil with their Brazilian passport only.

Procedures:

  • Submission to the Consulate of two visa application forms per applicant,properly filled out (first and second pages) and duly signed by the applicant. Parents must sign for those under 18 years old and have their signatures notarized.
  • Passport with a minimum remaining validity of six months and with at least 2 blank visa pages available for the visa stamp (excluding the pages reserved for Amendments and Endorsements).
  • Two recent 2"x 2" passport-type photographs of applicant, front view and showing entire face, in white background. Snapshots, computer pictures and picture photocopies are not accepted.
  • proof of residence in the consular jurisdiction for the past twelve months.
  • Copy of scholarship documentation or proof of financial capability to pay for the stay in Brazil.
  • Documented proof of enrollment, legalized by a notary public in Brazil, indicating duration of studies at a Brazilian educational institution.
  • If applying for an extended-stay visa to immediate family members, copy of marriage certificate, birth certificate, or other official dependency document.
  • As applicable, polio vaccination certificate (only for children between the ages of 3 months and 6 years).
  • If applicant is of criminally liable age, and whenever the planned stay exceeds 90 days, a recent (not over 60 days) non-criminal record issued by the local (applicant's place of residence) Police Department.
  • For non-Americans returning to the USA, copy of green card or valid American visa allowing for re-entry into the USA.
  • For non-Americans without a green card or valid re-entry visa into the USA, valid visa to country of final destination after trip to Brazil. This requirement does not apply to applicants returning to country of citizenship.
  • A yellow fever vaccination certificate if applicant traveled within the last 90 days to any of the following countries: Angola, Bolivia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, French Guiana, Gabon, Ghana, Gambia, Republic of Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Peru, Sierra Leone, Sudan, or Venezuela.
    Please note that yellow fever vaccination is advisable if applicant's destination in Brazil is the Federal District (Brasilia), or any of the following States: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, and Tocantins.
  • Appropriate visa and legalization payments, as applicable.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All supporting documentation that is not originated in Brazil must be authenticated by the Consulate.Copy of Brazilian supporting documents must be notarized by a Cartório in Brazil. Original Brazilian documents do not require notarization.
  • The requirements listed above are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the visa Officers may request additional information and/or documentation.
