Eligibility:

Yellow Ball

business, except when the trip involves the provision of services (e.g., technical assistance, installation, maintenance or repairs of equipament, etc., in which case a Vitem V is mandatory)

flight/ship crew members without an international crew card , except if working on ship operating offshore (in which case a Vitem V is mandatory)

Terms and Conditions:

Yellow Ball Visa holders are prohibited from holding any paid job in Brazil.
Yellow Ball

Visa holders are prohibited from engaging in any activity that involves the provision of services in Brazil, including intracompany (e.g., technical assistance, installation, maintenance or repairs of equipment, etc.).

Visa holders are prohibited from working on a ship operating offshore or freighted for cabotage navigation.

First arrival in Brazil must take place within 90 days from the date the visa was issued.

This visa is good for multiple entries within the visa's duration. Please note that even when the validity of the visa exceeds 90 days, authorized stays are for a maximum of 90 days per visit (if necessary, an extension may be obtained with the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested prior to the expiration of the authorized stay; special requirements apply).

Citizens of certain countries (Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Boliva, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Macau, Monaco, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Suriname, Tcheck Republic, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay, and the Vatican) do not require a visa to enter Brazil on a business trip provided: the stay does not exceed 90 days; it does not involve in-country provision of services of any nature; traveler is not a flight/ship crew member without an international crew card; traveler is not a crew member nor an oil/gas specialist providing services within Brazilian waters; traveler is not a crew member serving aboard a vessel involved in cabotage transport; travel does not involve journalistic activities nor film making; and travel is not for the purpose of adopting a Brazilian child.

Visa will be issued on a "laissez-passer" to nationals of the following countries: Bhutan, Central African Republic, and Taiwan.

Brazilian nationals must enter and leave Brazil with their Brazilian passport only.

Procedures:

The Consulate accepts visa submissions by the applicant in person, by a third party, acting on his/her behalf, or by a travel/visa agency in Houston.

If application is submitted through a third party, a copy of the applicant(s) driver's license is requird to be attached to the application form.  Visa processing time is ten business days once all requirements have been met.

Submission to the Consulate of one visa application form per applicant, properly filled out (first and second pages) and duly signed, together with the following documentation:

  • passport with a minimum remaining validity of six months prior to its expiration date, and with at least 2 blank visa pages available for the visa stamp - excluding the pages reserved for Amendments and Endorsements.

  • for non-Americans returning to the USA, copy of green card or valid American visa allowing for re-entry into the USA

  • for non-Americans without a green card or valid re-entry visa into the USA, valid visa to country of final destination after trip to Brazil (this requirement does not apply to applicants returning to country of citizenship)

  • one recent 2"x 2" passport-type photograph of applicant, showing entire face (must be front view) in white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted

  • as applicable (requirement does not apply in the case of adoptions), letter from the employer or sponsoring company in the USA - on their letterhead stationery and signed by a senior manager which contains the following information:

    • nature of business of the U.S. company
    • applicant title and/or functions with the U.S. company and his/her precise nature of business and activities to be conducted in Brazil
    • responsibility of the U.S. company for applicant's stay in Brazil and his/her return to the country of origin
    • name(s) and address(es) of Brazilian company(ies) with which applicant is going to deal/negotiate with
    • name(s) of person(s) to be contacted in Brazil, phone number(s) and his/her/their functions with the Brazilian company(ies)
    • expected duration of stay of his/her immediate trip to Brazil

  • as applicable (for film making of a commercial nature), copy of prior authorization by the Ministry of Culture (Agência National de Cinema)

  • as applicable (for journalistic activities or film making in Indian reserves or environmentally protected areas), copy of prior authorization by the competent government agency

  • as applicable (for the purpose of adoption of a Brazilian child), appropriate documentation required by law

  • as applicable (i.e., if applicant traveled within the last 90 days to any of the following countries: Angola, Bolivia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, French Guiana, Gabon, Ghana, Gambia, Republic of Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Peru, Sierra Leone, Sudan, or Venezuela), yellow fever vaccination certificate. Please note that yellow fever vaccination is advisable if applicant's destination in Brazil includes any of the following States: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, and Tocantins.

  • appropriate visa and legalization payments, as applicable.

The requirements listed are not all-inclusive. When processing a visa submission, the Consulate may request additional information/documentation.

Yellow Ball

Except for business activities, all supporting documentation must be notarized. Documents that are not originated in Brazil must be authenticated by the Consulate. Copy of Brazilian supporting documents must be notarized by a Cartório in Brazil. Original Brazilian documents do not require notarization.
