Visa Fees


  • There are four different types of fees associated with obtaining a visa. Please read carefully the complete instructions below, since more than one fee may apply per visa.

  • For visa submissions in person  PAYMENT MUST BE EXCLUSIVELY MADE IN U.S. POSTAL MONEY ORDER, PAYABLE TO THE CONSULATE GENERAL OF BRAZIL. Personal or company checks, certified checks, bank or personal money orders, and credit card charges are not accepted.

  • Processing fees (i.e., the Reciprocity Fee, the Handling Fee, and the Consultation Fee) are non-refundable and cannot be added up to the Basic Visa Fee for the purpose of payment. Processing fees must be paid by a separate postal money order.

Reciprocity Fee:

  • American citizens must pay US$130.00 processing fee per visa in reciprocity for an identical fee charged to Brazilian citizens applying for a U.S. visa.

  • British citizens must pay US$155.00 processing fee when the validity of their visas is over 180 days, in reciprocity for an identical fee charged to Brazilian citizens applying for a British visa under same condition.

Handling Fee:

  • Regardless of nationality, if visa submission is not presented personally by the applicant, an additional fee payment of US$20.00 per visa applies to visa submissions presented by a third party (friends, co-workers, visa/travel agencies, etc), except when submitted by an immediate member of applicant's family (spouse, son, daughter, father and mother).

 

 
Consultation Fee:

  • An additional consultation fee of US$30.00 per visa applies to submissions presented by citizens of the following countries (except for green card holders when applying for tourist visa):
  Afghanistan Iran Iraq Jordan Libya
  Nigeria Palestine Pakistan Syria

Laissez-Passer:

  • The cost for the "laissez-passer" is US$80.00 plus any other applicable visa fee

TEMPORARY VISAS: the following fees apply to all nationalities.

  VITEM-VI US$ 20.00
  VITEM-VII US$ 70.00
  PERMANENT VISA US$ 200.00
