Life Certificates

Brazilian nationals and foreigners holding a valid RNE (Registro Nacional de Estrangeiros) card are elegible to apply for a life certificate ("certificado de vida") issued by the Consulate.   Non-Brazilian who do not hold a valid RNE card shall obtain with local authorities an appropriate document and have it authenticated by the Consulate, as per procedures below:

Procedures

Yellow Ball Submission to the Consulate of the following documents:
  • notarized life certificate (original copy only). The Notary Public's seal must be stamped directly on the document. The Notary Public's signature must be handwritten (name and title stamped)

  • for applications submitted by mail, the original of a residence certificate issued by the local (i.e., applicant's place of residence) Police Department

Yellow Ball

For documents submitted by mail, a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of papers. The Consulate will honor a request for return of documentation by Express Mail if a pre-paid self-addressed envelope is provided. The Consulate will not be held responsible for documents sent by mail.
